Helping Others

Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them.

Dalai Lama

Practicing Karma Yoga by being of service and helping others helps to free one from karma. I like to help Mama do chores like making the bed, especially when she's putting on freshly washed sheets!

My Brother Ku's Article!

My Handsome Brother Ku
What a special day! My pup brother Kuruk had an article published at Untold Animal Stories, where they "inspire small acts of kindness through connection and compassion."

Ku's article, Kuruk The Little Bear That Could, is an introduction to his soon to be published book about his rescue and healing journey. Like me, he will be donating a portion of the proceeds to animal rescue groups. You can also visit his poetic blog Haiku By Ku! Me-Ommmmm

Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character, and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.

Counting Blessings

Whatever our individual troubles and challenges may be, it’s important to pause every now and then to appreciate all that we have, on every level. We need to literally “count our blessings,” give thanks for them, allow ourselves to enjoy them, and relish the experience of prosperity we already have.

Beautiful Me doing some pre-meditation yoga!
I am thankful to have a warm home, plenty of food, and the freedom to practice yoga and meditate constantly! Me-Ommmmm

Please Paws for the Rainbow Bridge Prayer

Dear Furrends and Friends, yesterday was National Pet Fire Safety Day, and unfortunately nearly 100 rescue kitties transcended this realm to wait by the Rainbow Bridge due to a house fire. Please paws for a minute to say the Rainbow Bridge Prayer for them and all dear furrends who have passed:

The Rainbow Bridge

inspired by a Norse legend

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Divine Devotion

Prayer and devotion to the Divine, Bhakti Yoga, is best done by chanting. Felines, being the most divine, are born already knowing the chant of the Universe: Purrrrr! Me-Ommmmm

Practicing Zazen

The more you practice zazen, the more you will be able to accept something as your own, whatever it is.

- Shunryu Suzuki

Everything around me is my own - the bed, the desk, the house... Though Zazen meditation is usually done in the seated position, here I am practicing it in the more beneficial reclining paw-paw pose, or Supta Padahastasana, which I discuss in my book. Everyone should practice this every day! Me-Ommmmm

Doing Nothing

This is the Zen approach: nothing is there to be done. There is nothing to do. One has just to be. Have a rest and be ordinary and be natural.

Inner Peace

As in the ocean's midmost depth no wave is born, but all is still, so let the practitioners be still, be motionless, and nowhere should they swell.

- from the Sutta-Nipata

Sometimes my brother Apollo likes to buggy me and challenge my blissful state of inner peace. I try not to let myself get heated by practicing Seektari Pranayama. From my book:

Seektari Pranayama (hissing breathing) is well known for cooling the body and the mind. Most felines practice hissing breathing when mentally heated, but its physical benefits should not be ignored. With tongue curled and lips pulled back, let out a strong force of hot air.  Ahhh...makes one instantly feel calmer and cooler!

Welcome!

Hello Everyone, and welcome to my new blog! I am Shri Swami Sattvapurrrrrananda, but my family calls me Zoe, which means Life, which I am. I am also very beautiful and am referred to also as a lioness princess puppy cat. Yes, you heard that right. I was raised by a Husky, so I believe that I am part snow pup. I currently have two snow pup Alaskan Malamute siblings, Kuruk and Nalle, and one kitty brother Apollo

I am also the esteemed author of Daily Yoga for a Happy and Healthy Cat. It is an essential guide for yoga for the world’s most natural yogi, the yogicat. It is the last and only book you (humans, pups, all sentient beings, and especially felines) will ever need to read to be as enlightened, free, youthful, healthy, happy, and as beautiful as me! Thank you for stopping by. May you all find peace, beauty, and bliss within!

Me-Om, Me-Om, Me-Ommmmm!

If one stretches completely, one relaxes completely. Look at a cat, a master of stretching and a master of relaxation.
